Private health screening

Jump to: navigation

Screening can be very valuable in preventing certain medical conditions as described on Ganfyd's screening page.

Screening may be offered or taken up privately. This may be valuable; but it can also be a cynical (or overoptimistic) means of parting people from their money at little or no likelihood of benefit, and with potential harms both for the patient, and for health care services who have to sort out the anxiety and demand for further tests and diagnostic or therapeutic interventions that arise as a consequence.

A group of doctors has set up a web site "PrivateHealthScreening: What to think about when you're thinking about screening tests" in an attempt to - at least partially - redress the balance.
